These cigars were first released in 2006 as part of the Commemorative Humidors series dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Cohiba brand. This release - 40 Aniversario Humidor was released in 40 special humidors of 100 cigars each. The cost of each was about 10,000 USD. Torcedor - Norma Fernandez, the oldest and most experienced twister of the El Laguito factory. However, already in 2009, the first information appeared from Habanos S.A. about the release of these cigars in the ordinary line of the Cohiba brand, the fourth line in a row in this brand. The flavor of the cigar is great. Buckwheat honey, cinnamon, other oriental spices, tree bark, amber, light musky notes. On the cut, peppery notes interrupt the rest of the scale. The taste of the cover is weak, indistinct, mostly rotten leaves. After pruning, the taste becomes brighter, all the same rotten leaves, alder buds, light honey notes. First third: The beginning is powerful, from the first sip. The taste range is the richest - noble earthy notes, rotten leaves, cork, creamy fudge and many small nuances that change from sip to sip. But most importantly, each sip is filled with the same enchanting champagne bubbles, the main thing is that the sip should not be small in order to clearly feel how a wave of hissing bubbles rolls over the tongue and palate. Small sips do not provide such an effect, but they allow you to make out the flavor range. Thus, the process of smoking is much more exciting than that of a regular cigar. Meanwhile, the taste of a cigar undergoes metamorphosis due to nuances. Creamy fudge turns into cream liqueur. And cognac notes are also felt, and one particular cognac is Hennesy VSOP. Second third: The beginning of the second third is already habitually “marked” by the fact that, alas, the champagne is over! The cigar gets stronger, if the first third was below average in strength, now it is already a little higher. Cheesy notes intensify, there is more bark. Tannin notes appear, but without excess. Creamy tones are gradually shaded. Third third: Ligero, the topmost leaf of the tobacco bush, now reigns in the flavor spectrum. He brings the next drink to the cigar, Cuban rum. Toward the middle of the last third, a classic "chill" appears - without a menthol taste, only a feeling of cold on the tongue and in the larynx. This is despite the fact that the smoke gets hotter towards the end of the cigar. This is one of the features of good Cuban cigars, which helps to finish the cigar with pleasure. Only now this cigar allows you to take a sip of some suitable drink - almost any cigar alcohol will do.
